Thomas Peter Lantos (born Tamás Péter Lantos; February 1, 1928 – February 11, 2008) was a Hungarian-born American academic, journalist, economist, and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the U.S. Representative from California's 11th (1981-1993) and 12th (1993-2008) congressional districts. Born in Budapest, Hungary, he attended school there until being arrested and sent to a forced labor camp outside of Budapest. He escaped but was soon caught by the Germans and beaten...
